(Perak, 1st) An 18-year-old indigenous girl sought treatment at a government clinic due to heavy bleeding, and it was subsequently revealed that she had secretly given birth at home, with the deceased baby discarded behind her residence.
Perak State Police Chief Dato’ Noh Hisham stated in a press release that the incident involving secretly giving birth and abandoning a body was discovered at around 5:30 PM on August 31st at the Gerik Kemar Government Clinic.
He revealed that the 18-year-old indigenous woman sought medical help at the clinic because of severe bleeding. Upon examination, doctors found she had significant wounds. After questioning, the woman admitted that she had just given birth at home and had left the baby behind the house.
He added that after receiving the report, the police dispatched personnel to investigate at the scene where the baby had been abandoned. They found the abandoned baby behind the woman’s home, but the infant was confirmed to show no signs of life.
He stated that police are investigating the case under Section 318 of the Penal Code (intentionally concealing birth and disposal of a body).
