On the first day of the Qingming holiday, a total of 19.2893 million people across China visited burial sites in person, with 62.73% of them choosing green and low-carbon memorial methods.
According to Xinhua News Agency, reporters learned from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China on Saturday (April 4th) that on the first day of the Qingming Festival holiday, all regions entered the peak period for public memorial activities. Statistics show that 66,300 funeral service institutions across the country provided on-site memorial services that day.
In addition, a total of 857 online memorial platforms served 266,200 people paying respects online. Throughout the day, funeral service institutions across the country interred 13,600 urns, with some people choosing ecological burial methods such as sea burials, tree burials, flower burials, and lawn burials. The concepts of changing social customs and green burials are gradually being embraced by the public.
It is expected that in the next two days of the holiday, the number of people traveling for memorial activities will continue to increase. The Ministry of Civil Affairs of China reminds the public to pay close attention to local weather and road conditions, arrange memorial times reasonably, pay attention to travel safety, advocate for civilized and low-carbon memorials, and celebrate a safe, peaceful, civilized, and orderly Qingming Festival.
