PWM Organizes Pink Event to Promote Breast Cancer and Mental Health Awareness

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) The Persatuan Warga Malaysia di Brunei (PWM) recently held a “Think Pink” event at the High Commission of Malaysia, aiming to raise public awareness on breast cancer prevention and women’s mental health.

The event specially invited Member of Parliament Dato’ Chai Da to attend, whose presence symbolized the importance of the community working hand in hand to promote women’s well-being.

The event kicked off with a lively and energetic Zumba class led by Elevate Nation Fitness & Health Studio.

Brunei Clarity consultant and mental health coach Hajah Norazlin Umi Natu-Hafizah then delivered a speech, exploring often overlooked issues of women’s mental health, as well as guidance on identifying early signs, seeking help, and utilizing local support systems.

Dr. Amalina Haji Suhiyu, breast surgeon from Jerudong Park Medical Centre, also gave a keynote talk, emphasizing the importance of early screening and regular check-ups, and explained self-examination steps and age-appropriate screening methods.

An interactive Q&A session was held, allowing participants to gain deeper understanding of breast health and emotional management knowledge.

The event attracted over 50 participants, with 8 businesses setting up booths, including GoodLife Financial Planning Sdn Bhd, Kare Clinic, Zehra Beauty Care Salon, Dermaline Beauty Therapy Sdn Bhd, Springhill Farmers Market, Life Nutrics, YingYang Café, and Radisson Hotel Brunei.
