Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin Inspects Ramadan Bazaar in Riam, Encourages Public to Support Local Businesses

(Miri, 17th) The Minister for Transport of Sarawak and Assemblyman for Senadin, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, visited the Emart Riam Ramadan Bazaar last night to inspect the operations of the market and encourage the public to support local businesses.

He was accompanied by councillors, youth and women leaders, as well as representatives from SUPP Senadin and Riam Branches, including Councillor Jeffery Phang Siaw Foong, Councillor Kueh Chie Tiong, Councillor Yap Siew Jin, Kapitan Jee Kee Hiong, and Kapitan Chong Khee Fah. Local Malay community leaders, such as Temenggong Abang Mohamed and village head Adam Malek, also attended the event.

Lee Kim Shin stated that the purpose of this visit was to understand the operations of the market, ensuring that vendors have a conducive selling environment. He emphasized that the government will continue to support local businesses and promote community cohesion, hoping the market can become a platform to bridge different ethnic groups.

He also purchased a variety of delicacies at the market to promote small businesses and encourage the public to support the local economy. His actions demonstrated support for the businesses and conveyed a warm Ramadan atmosphere to all ethnic groups.

At the scene, it was observed that the vendors adapted well, with a continuous stream of customers. Besides Muslim consumers, many people from different ethnic groups also came to buy, showcasing Sarawak's harmonious multicultural environment. Lee Kim Shin pointed out that such racial harmony is valuable and should be cherished and continued.

Lee Kim Shin also took the opportunity to express blessings to Muslim friends, wishing them a successful fasting, and emphasized the importance of unity and community support during Ramadan.

He stated that the government will continue to promote economic and community development, ensuring that the Ramadan Bazaar in Riam becomes a lively and festive event, bringing economic and social growth to businesses and the community.
