Chairman Chang Qi Chuang of Hawkers’ Association Thanks Chen Chao Yao for Long-term Support of Academic Excellence Awards

(Miri, 2nd) Miri Hawkers’ Association Chairman Chang Qi Chuang stated that the association will continue to uphold the spirit of unity and mutual assistance, serving as a bridge between hawkers and the government, safeguarding members' rights, and promoting the hawking industry towards more orderly, hygienic, and competitive development.

He expressed these remarks last night during the Miri Hawkers’ Association's 2026 Annual General Meeting and the awarding ceremony of the Datuk Chen Chao Yao Lawyer Members’ Children Academic Excellence Award, held at the Jubilee Grand Restaurant.

In his speech, Chang Qi Chuang thanked Guest of Honor, Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Chen Chao Yao, for his long-standing care and support for the development of the hawker community, especially his generous annual sponsorship for the Members’ Children Academic Excellence Awards, which encourages youngsters to study hard and strive for excellence.

He also expressed gratitude to the Miri City Council Hawkers Director, Councilor Fan Fatchun, and City Council Sanitation Officer Liao Han Xiang, for their continued communication and their guidance and assistance in hawker management, sanitary supervision, and various other affairs throughout the past year. Their efforts have improved the hawker working environment and made industry operations smoother.

Chang Qi Chuang stressed that the Miri Hawkers’ Association will continue to strengthen cooperation with relevant departments, promote the improvement of hygiene and service level among hawkers, uplift the overall image and competitiveness, and provide better services to the community.
