(Johor Bahru, 16th) The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) train number 02, which arrived yesterday at the Wadi Hana Maintenance and Operations Depot in Johor Bahru, will enter several testing phases today, including the decoupling procedure.

RTS Operations Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ahmad Mazuki said that following this, static testing will be carried out to ensure all systems are operating well, followed by three phases of dynamic testing.

He told Bernama that dynamic tests will start from the Maintenance and Operations Depot to Bukit Chagar Station, then proceed to Woodlands North Station in Singapore, before returning to the depot in order to confirm operational performance under real-world conditions.

"Through these three phases of dynamic testing, the train will operate at slow speeds, with tests conducted on the actual main track under real conditions."

Ahmad Mazuki said other major tests include the signalling system, communication system, and train performance tests on the actual track, to ensure all components operate smoothly and safely.

He pointed out that the entire testing and certification process will involve all 8 RTS trains, which is estimated to take 6 to 7 months, after which the trains can be certified for readiness to run in automatic driverless mode.

"This is vital to ensure every train can communicate with other systems, including the power supply and signalling systems."

He also said that passenger capacity testing will begin next year to ensure the RTS runs smoothly and provides comfort to passengers.

On another note, RTS Operations Sdn Bhd Chairman Datuk Khairi Anwar said that the RTS project is progressing smoothly, reaching 65% completion to date, with all works carried out according to set standards.

"We have a large workforce on-site, so safety standards are at the highest level and are the top priority to ensure all works can be completed on time."

He also said that to cope with all possible scenarios, including unpredictable weather challenges, all operational plans have been meticulously formulated.
