(Singapore, 23rd)—A magnitude 7 earthquake struck the waters near Sabah, Malaysia at 12:57am on Monday (Feb 23), with some Singapore residents reporting feeling the tremors.
After the earthquake, some members of the public from Singapore shared their experiences on social media. Residents in areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Hougang, Sengkang, Yishun, and East Coast reported feeling tremors.
A resident living in the northeast of Singapore, who goes by the online name BusyBug, said: “My bed felt like a waterbed, and when I opened my eyes, I saw the light fixtures swinging.”
Another resident, Mushroom Jojo from Tengah, shared that their usually large and sturdy king-sized bed suddenly shook violently during the earthquake.
Hougang resident Souledgar said: “This is the strongest earthquake I've ever felt. Interestingly, I thought the dizziness was because I drank too much Coke.”
The US Tsunami Warning Center reported that this earthquake would not trigger a tsunami threat.
