On June 30, the Russian government ordered the temporary closure, starting from July 1, of several railway border crossings between Russia and the three countries of Latvia, Finland, and Estonia. The relevant document was published the same day on the Russian government's official legal documents website.
According to the Russian government decision, effective July 1, Russia will temporarily close the St. Petersburg-Finland railway border crossing, the Vyborg railway border crossing, as well as three other railway border crossings on the Russia-Finland border. Also temporarily closed are one railway border crossing on the Russia-Estonia border and one on the Russia-Latvia border.
Starting July 1, the above border crossings will suspend passage of any personnel, vehicles, goods, and cargo.
In any case, the Russian government did not specify the exact reason for the closure of these border crossings.
