12th Anniversary of Malaysian Chinese Film and Television Association Honors Outstanding Filmmakers of 2024

The Malaysian Chinese Film and Television Association recently celebrated its 12th anniversary and honored filmmakers who made outstanding contributions to the industry over the past year at the "2025 New Year Gathering and 2024 Outstanding Filmmakers Awards Ceremony."

This year's Outstanding Filmmakers Awards winners include Chong Wenyit, who received the Outstanding TV Person Award, Susan Lankester, who was awarded the Outstanding Actor Award, and Dato' Lin Wenxiang, who was honored with the Outstanding Filmmaker Award.

Chong Wenyit has been deeply involved in television, documentary, and image production, achieving high ratings on 8TV with "Taste of Malaysia" and "Beyond the Village" and winning awards at both domestic and international film festivals. He is not only dedicated to filmmaking but also actively involved in education, nurturing the next generation of filmmaking talents. Susan Lankester, who entered the film industry in 1983, won the Best Actress Award at the 33rd Malaysia Film Festival and the Asian Academy Creative Awards for her role in the film "Rain Town," showcasing her superb acting skills. She is also actively promoting female creation and looks forward to producing her own feature film in the future.

As for Dato' Lin Wenxiang, he can be regarded as a driving force in the film and television industry. Since entering the industry in 1999, Dato' Lin Wenxiang has pushed for local film and television production, successfully releasing high-grossing films like "OLA BOLA" and "Paskal: The Movie," and aiding the Malaysian Chinese TV drama "The House of Harmony and Vengeance" in achieving the highest ratings of the year. He emphasized, "What I make are not just Malay films, but Malaysian films!"

Furthermore, Association President Cheng Xiongcheng reviewed the achievements of the past two years at the ceremony and announced plans to promote more international collaborations in the future, helping local film and television works reach the world stage. Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching also acknowledged the growth of the local film industry in her speech, noting that the 2025 Chinese New Year film box office performance was impressive, marking the rise of Malaysian Chinese cinema.
