Microsoft Commits to $400 Million Investment in Thailand Over 2 Years to Develop AI and Data Centers

The Thai government stated that on the 31st, Prime Minister Anutin met with Microsoft Vice Chairman and President Smith to discuss how to turn Thailand into a regional AI hub. It was revealed that Microsoft plans to invest US$1 billion (4.043 billion ringgit) in Thailand over the next two years to develop cloud computing and AI infrastructure.

The Thai government issued a statement on the 31st that Prime Minister Anutin, together with cabinet ministers, met with Microsoft Vice Chairman and President Smith today to explore how to make Thailand a regional artificial intelligence (AI) center and exchanged views on several key issues.

The statement also pointed out that the meeting discussed Microsoft's investment in cloud computing and AI infrastructure in Thailand.

According to the Nation newspaper, Microsoft has committed to invest US$1 billion in Thailand over the next two years to help build a regional artificial intelligence center, with the investment also including training in AI and digital talent.

The Thai government said it will support investment in data center infrastructure, encourage Microsoft to turn Thailand into an AI hub, and both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation, support the Thai government's economic and digital policies, and establish a long-term partnership with Thailand to achieve sustainable mutual benefit and win-win results.
