South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo has been in the entertainment industry for nearly 30 years. He gained fame in 2003 with the movie 'My Tutor Friend' and later starred in the drama 'Stairway to Heaven,' gaining widespread popularity across Asia. He is often regarded as the 'original Hallyu star' and has remained active on screen in recent years. However, he recently revealed on a program that he had a tumor in his liver and had a palm-sized portion of his liver removed, sparking heated discussions among netizens.

Kwon Sang-woo recently appeared on the YouTube program 'Painful Brothers,' where he first revealed that his father died early due to liver cancer. Unexpectedly, he then disclosed for the first time that he also had a tumor in his liver, shocking the guests present. Kwon Sang-woo explained that he had a hemangioma. The doctor told him, 'If the hemangioma grows to exceed 10cm, an open surgery is needed, but it's currently only 6cm. It's recommended to have surgery as soon as possible if you have the time.'

Kwon Sang-woo admitted that when he learned he needed surgery, his other family members were living in the US. So he underwent the operation alone and then raised one hand to show that a palm-sized portion of his liver was removed. Interestingly, the doctor mentioned that his liver was naturally larger than average, so even with 30% removed, the remaining liver size was still similar to others. Alone at the hospital, Kwon Sang-woo lamented, 'I was hospitalized for a long time, and my family was abroad, so I felt quite lonely being in the hospital by myself.'
