(MIRI, April 30) Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin emphasized that the spirit of unity and mutual respect among government agencies from various cultural and religious backgrounds reflects the unique harmony of Sarawak's multicultural society.
He made this statement during the Aidilfitri and Pre-Gawai Ramah Tamah gathering held today at Wisma Pelita Tunku, Miri, attended by representatives from various state departments and agencies.
Lee expressed his appreciation to the event host, Mr. Mohd. Ariffin Bin Haji Bujang, Assistant Controller of Sarawak Rivers Board (Wilayah III), for organizing the event that brought civil servants together to celebrate both Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the upcoming Gawai Dayak festival.
He noted that these festivities are not only times for joy and gratitude but also opportunities to strengthen understanding, compassion, and camaraderie among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds. The presence of various agencies under one roof exemplifies the spirit of togetherness unique to Sarawak.
Lee also took the opportunity to commend all government agencies for their continuous dedication in delivering the best services to the people. He acknowledged the strong cooperation among agencies such as the Sarawak Rivers Board, Land and Survey Department, JBALB, NREB, Veterinary Services Department, and the WPT Management Corporation, which he described as crucial to Sarawak’s balanced and sustainable development.
“This collaborative spirit among agencies is what drives Sarawak’s continued progress,” he said.
He concluded with a traditional Malay pantun, symbolizing the blessings of unity and prosperity:
“At the riverbank, fruit trees grow,
Birds sing sweet songs at morning light;
With unity, blessings shall flow,
Sarawak prospers, its people in delight.”
