Ken Chu Admits to Singing Off-Key, Netizens Suspect He’s Satirizing Mayday’s Lip-Syncing

F4's Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, and Vic Chou were joined by Mayday’s Ashin for the 'F✦FOREVER Star City' concert in Shanghai on December 22, with only Ken Chu missing. The absent Ken Chu aired grievances to his fans, implying that a true F4 reunion might never happen: “I’ve been cyberbullied to this extent, yet the other three still chose to quietly make big money on stage. Do you think that, if we really met again, we could still perform together without any hard feelings?”

F4 was set to make a long-awaited, dream reunion in July 2025, orchestrated by B’in Music, but Ken Chu fell out with the team soon after and did not participate in the new song or the tour. Ken Chu has continually taken aim in recent days. He earlier claimed that Ashin's thanks during the December 22 concert to 'Ken (Ken Chu’s English name) who couldn't make it' was merely for appearances. Most recently, he revealed that although he actually sang off-key, the final public video didn't show any flaws, again stirring up lip-syncing controversy.

Ken Chu said that he suffers from tinnitus due to noise-induced ear damage, which causes him to sometimes sing off-pitch, but he insists on singing live because he refuses to deceive consumers. He stated, “I went off-key both at Taipei Arena and Beijing National Stadium, but you can’t hear it at all in the videos that were released,” further hinting, “You might want to ponder on that.”

Ken Chu’s remarks were widely suspected to be a satire of Mayday’s previous lip-syncing controversy, igniting lively debate online. He claimed to have kept evidence, further stating, “The authorities have already begun to investigate these matters and should take action soon. I just went to the Taiwan Affairs Office today to cooperate with the investigation.”

However, these are only his own statements and no concrete evidence has been provided.
