(BSB 7th Jan) Brunei Chung Hwa Middle School held an inaugural activity for the new academic year today, aiming to guide students to comply with school rules, gradually cultivate good behavioral habits, promote personal growth and comprehensive improvement of quality and ability, and create an educational atmosphere for a good start to the new academic year.
The morning's inaugural activities included: a speech by the principal, the Education Office introducing the Student Code of Conduct and school rules, a counselor explaining the functions of the Counseling Office, popularizing knowledge of fire and disaster emergency evacuation, practicing singing the national anthem and school song, etc., allowing all teachers and students to familiarize themselves with the school's daily teaching order and confidently welcome the arrival of the new academic year.
Principal Xu Yuelan of Wu Zhong stated in the assembly that, in addition to strengthening the normative requirements for students' daily behavior, students should start with small things around them, cultivate behavior habits, and form a good attitude towards life and moral cultivation.
In her speech, she first mentioned: New plans for the new academic year, students should have great dreams, uphold sincerity, ensure their words and actions are consistent, and not just speak without action; learning should be focused, continuously developing, maintaining strong willpower to overcome any difficulties in learning; comply with school rules, do not make mistakes; cherish the campus environment, maintain a clean image, and learn to manage classroom discipline.
She continued, the use of social media also needs to be cautious, not to be abused or misused, otherwise it may bring a series of negative impacts; think twice before uploading videos, pictures, and other information to avoid harming classmates, friends, and family, and not to damage the school's image; dress according to school rules, be consistent inside and out, personal behavior should always remember the school motto, and avoid prohibited behaviors like smoking e-cigarettes, violators will be punished.
She emphasized that students should respect teachers and classmates, and value punctuality, complete homework on time, and manage rest and meal times reasonably; students are not only individual roles but should undertake the essence of receiving education, discuss topics with peers, participate in appropriate extracurricular activities, etc.; remember the importance of health and maintain a healthy physique.
Finally, Xu Yuelan hopes that students must remember the requirements of the inaugural activities, strive to do what they should do, and maintain a good momentum until the end of the year.
Additionally, in the inaugural activities, Director Hong Xizhong of the Education Office explained knowledge about the Student Code of Conduct, Wu Zhong school rules, and disciplinary treatment, enabling students to further understand the school's relevant regulations, playing a good role in promoting students to comply with school discipline, civilized learning, etc.
Subsequently, Assistant Wu Wenming from the Education Office explained the methods and essentials of emergency evacuation, making students familiar with emergency evacuation routes, and mastering safety skills for escaping fire and disasters, providing a guarantee for their healthy and happy life.
Counselor Zhu Shilu from the Counseling Office introduced the functions of the school's Counseling Office: individual one-on-one counseling; career aptitude testing; education exhibitions for further studies; outstanding graduate sharing sessions; student quality improvement plans; motivational lectures; peer psychological counseling activities; cultivating students to be proactive, helpful, and problem-solving abilities.
Lastly, students were instructed on the etiquette they should pay attention to when singing the national anthem and school song to cultivate their patriotic feelings and love for the school.
At around 3 PM in the afternoon, the inaugural activity for the afternoon session was also held in the school's Peace Hall, attended by teachers and students from grades 1 to 3 of the elementary school. Principal Xu Yuelan encouraged the elementary school students to listen carefully in class, complete their homework on time, and be disciplined students.
Wu Zhong's inaugural activity for the start of the school year is not just an ordinary meeting to welcome the new semester but also aims to create an environment that stimulates students' interest and provides a good learning environment.
