Delivery Driver Defecates in Elevator While Holding Food Delivery, Netizens Sympathize with Food Recipient

A shocking incident of a delivery driver "defecating in public" has taken place in a residential community in Changde, Hunan, China!

According to a report by 'China News Weekly', the delivery worker entered the elevator, and—holding the food delivery with one hand—pulled down his pants and defecated inside the elevator. The whole process lasted about 40 seconds. He then left the elevator as if nothing had happened and continued to deliver the food. The entire incident was discovered by a resident watching CCTV footage.

It is understood that netizens uploaded the CCTV footage to social media, showing the incident took place at around 2pm on June 1. The delivery worker can be seen holding the food with one hand and pulling down his pants with the other, squatting down and defecating in the cramped and enclosed elevator. The process lasted about 40 seconds—until the elevator reached the 33rd floor. The delivery driver then calmly pulled up his pants and walked out of the elevator.

Reportedly, the incident happened at the Poly Times Community in Changde, Hunan, discovered when a resident checked the public CCTV. Afterwards, the residents’ group chat "exploded." Security staff and cleaners immediately carried out a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the elevator, and promised to strengthen inspections of delivery personnel entering the community, as well as to increase daily patrols by security to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

On June 3, property staff said they have already reported the incident to the local police and will inform residents of any updates as soon as possible in their community group. An officer at the Liuyuehu police station of Liuyuehu District sub-bureau in Changde stated that the case is still under investigation.

The incident, after coming to light, sparked heated discussion online. Many commented, “What?
