Typhoon “Molave” made landfall in central and northern Vietnam in the early hours of the 29th, causing damage to houses and paralyzing power supplies.

According to statistics from relevant Vietnamese authorities, as of the morning of the 29th, “Molave” has caused 3 deaths, 2 injuries, and 21 missing. Currently, many disaster-stricken areas are still without electricity and internet, making it difficult to carry out disaster statistics and relief work.

“Molave” made landfall in Ha Tinh Province, causing severe damage in Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Quang Tri and other regions. Many house roofs were ripped off, and a large number of trees and power poles were blown down.

According to the Vietnam National Meteorological Service, as of 8 a.m. local time, the maximum wind speed of “Molave” since landfall has decreased from 117 kilometers per hour to 88 kilometers per hour.

The meteorological bureau indicated that before making landfall, “Molave” had been moving along Vietnam’s coastline for several hours, stirring up waves as high as 8 meters.

Before the typhoon struck, authorities had evacuated more than 28,500 people. Four airports in central provinces were closed, and hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed.
