On Tuesday (17th), China continued to issue a yellow heat warning and a blue rainstorm warning, with local areas in southern Hebei, central and northern Henan, and the Turpan Basin in Xinjiang reaching temperatures above 40°C. Heavy rainstorms are occurring in regions such as Guangdong, Guangxi, and Sichuan, with exceptionally heavy rain in some coastal areas of southwestern Guangdong, where rainfall has reached 250 to 400 millimeters. Early Tuesday morning, Zhuhai City in Guangdong issued a red rainstorm and yellow thunderstorm and wind warning signal, with all classes suspended for the entire day.
The Zhuhai Meteorological Bureau announced on Tuesday morning that due to the continued impact of a strong thunderstorm cloud cluster, multiple stations reported heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters within three hours. The rainfall is expected to persist throughout the day. The City Education Bureau announced that all non-boarding childcare institutions, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and off-campus training institutions will close for the day. At the same time, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory also issued an orange rainstorm warning signal, placing the entire city in a rainstorm defense state and reminding citizens and relevant departments to be cautious of disasters such as landslides.
Affected by the residual cloud system of typhoon "Butterfly," several rivers have experienced flood waters surpassing warning levels, necessitating continued heightened vigilance. The Ministry of Water Resources guided the Pearl River Water Resources Commission and the water resources departments of Hainan, Guangxi, and Guangdong to manage 325 large and medium-sized reservoirs in the basin, retaining 3.372 billion cubic meters of floodwater. The water level of the Lianjiang Qingyuan Yingde Dawan section in Guangdong peaked at 45.63 meters on Monday (16th), exceeding the warning level by 3.63 meters, with severe flooding on the first floors of houses in low-lying areas along the river. In Dawan Town, Zhaoqing City, 69 village groups are affected, and 3,375 people have been evacuated, with no reports of house collapses or casualties so far.
