On the 4th, Mexico's President Sheinbaum was harassed and subjected to an attempted forced kiss by a man while interacting with the public. The man involved was subsequently arrested.
According to AFP, video footage from the scene shows Sheinbaum heading towards an event near the presidential palace, greeting citizens with handshakes and taking photos.
During this time, a man suddenly approached, placed his arm around Sheinbaum's shoulder, touched her buttocks and chest with his other hand, and attempted to kiss her neck.
The president's security personnel immediately pulled the man away; he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Despite the offense, Sheinbaum remained calm, even taking a photo with the man afterward and giving him a gentle pat on the back.
Authorities later confirmed that the man had been arrested.
According to data from UN Women, about 70% of women in Mexico aged 15 and over have experienced sexual harassment at least once in their lives.
