On the 21st, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing with Mozambican President Nyusi, who is on a state visit, and both parties agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a “China-Mozambique Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.”

According to the website of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xi Jinping, on the afternoon of the 21st in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, emphasized during his talks with Nyusi that friendship and mutual trust are the outstanding features and political advantages of China-Mozambique relations. Both sides should continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns, intensify exchanges at all fields and levels including governments, political parties, legislative bodies, and localities, and strengthen exchanges on governance experience.

Xi Jinping also stated that China and Mozambique have strong economic complementarities and broad prospects for cooperation. This year marks the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), and China is willing to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Mozambique, innovate cooperation models, explore new avenues for comprehensive cooperation in infrastructure and integrated development of energy and mineral resources, and actively foster new growth points in cooperation in fields such as agriculture, new energy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence.

Xi Jinping further pointed out that the spillover effects of the Middle East conflict are impacting African countries. China is willing to join hands with African countries to jointly promote peace and pursue development, including implementing a comprehensive zero-tariff policy for products from all 53 African diplomatic partners starting May 1 this year, and further expanding the market access of African products to China through upgraded “green channels” and other measures.

According to the website of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nyusi is the first African head of state to pay a state visit to China this year. He stated that Mozambique highly values relations with China, "adheres unconditionally to the one-China principle, and supports China’s realization of national reunification."

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of over 20 cooperative agreements in areas such as co-building the "Belt and Road Initiative", implementing the Global Security Initiative, economic and trade cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, medical and healthcare, and news media, and also issued a joint statement on building a China-Mozambique Community with a Shared Future in the New Era.
