JCI Training Inspires Mission and Nurtures Young Leaders

(Miri, 4th) In order to deepen members’ understanding of the mission, vision, and core values of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), and to further enhance members’ sense of identity and belonging, the association recently held a content-rich and highly interactive training event. The event successfully attracted enthusiastic participation from many members, with an enthusiastic response on site.

This event was honored to invite Wong Tze Kuan—2025 Treasurer of the JCI Sarawak Area Malaysia and 2024 National Vice President—as the keynote speaker. Combining his 10 years of service and leadership experience in JCI, Speaker Wong shared his valuable insights in organizational governance, leadership practice, and personal growth in an easy-to-understand way. He guided members to a comprehensive understanding of JCI’s operating model and leadership responsibilities through real case studies and interactive exchanges, and encouraged them to actively participate in organizational affairs and to keep improving themselves while serving society.

In addition, this training was also assisted by Xu Xunyao, the Sarawak Area Skills Development Committee Member, who served as assistant trainer and helped facilitate the course content and interactive sessions. With his expertise and rich experience, Assistant Trainer Xu effectively promoted communication and interaction among participants, making the course content more lively and interesting and further improving the overall learning effectiveness.

The entire training was solid in content and harmonious in atmosphere. Not only did it strengthen members’ identification with JCI’s mission and values, but also inspired a passion in the members for continuous learning and courage to take on leadership responsibilities. The organizers hope that through such high-quality training activities, they can continue to nurture youth leaders with leadership, social responsibility, and an international perspective, injecting more positive energy into both society and the organization.

Furthermore, in his speech, President Lin Xiao Jian said that this training activity is one of the focus projects of the association this year, aiming to provide members with continuous opportunities for growth and learning. He thanked the guest speakers and the training team for their dedication, and encouraged members to apply what they have learned in practical actions, actively participating in organizational and community service, and advancing the continued development of JCI together.

At the same time, Organizing Chairperson Luo Tian Feng expressed sincere thanks to all committee members, speakers, and participating members. She pointed out that the success of this event was due to the close cooperation of the team and the enthusiastic support of the members, and looks forward to more high-quality and diversified training activities in the future, creating more opportunities for members to learn and improve.

The purpose of JCI is to provide young people with opportunities to develop leadership skills, foster social responsibility and enhance friendship, contributing to the development of global society. It adopts directions such as individual development, community development, business development, and international opportunities, organizing various events annually to provide opportunities to discover each member’s potential.

The Junior Chamber can be said to be an organization full of opportunities that can benefit members for a lifetime. Most members choose what suits them and make full use of those opportunities. However, seeking out these opportunities depends on the willingness of members. The philosophy of JCI is to put learning into practice and provide challenges to make life more meaningful and valuable, with the greatest personal gains.

In view of this, the association invites more youths aged 18 to 40 to actively participate in Riam JCI, regarding JCI as a platform for personal development and advancement.
