Cancel New Year Open House - Chiew Choon Man Focuses on Disaster Relief

Published at Feb 01, 2025 01:39 pm
(Miri, 1st) Miri Member of Parliament, Chiew Choon Man, stated that due to the severe flooding in Miri, I have decided to cancel the Chinese New Year open house event originally scheduled for February 7, 2025.

Chiew stated that since many families are forced to evacuate their homes, the current priority is to provide assistance and ensure that disaster relief and recovery efforts can be launched as soon as possible. I am also taking Bintulu Member of Parliament Tiong King Sing as a mentor, doing everything possible to assist the disaster victims in the face of the disaster, with the well-being of the people as the top priority.

"As a follow-up measure, I will also follow Minister Tiong's example by reallocating the funds and resources originally intended for the event to disaster relief assistance, helping the affected families. We will also work with relevant government departments and local organizations to ensure that aid can be delivered to those in need as soon as possible."

I urge everyone to do their part in providing help to the victims. The current priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all those affected.

"Thank you all for your understanding and support, and I hope the people of Miri can unite in this challenge and face the difficulties together."

Meanwhile, Miri MP Chiew Choon Man, together with the Miri Parliamentary People's Service Centre and volunteers, distributed over 1,000 food packages to residents affected by the floods in Senadin, Kampung Sealine, Tudan, and Pujut Tanjung Batu.
