South Korea has recently experienced prolonged high temperatures exceeding 38°C. Reportedly, a group of homeless people have 'moved into' Incheon International Airport to escape the heat, occupying waiting area seats, bathing and washing clothes in restrooms, and even urinating in public, causing dissatisfaction among travelers. Incheon International Airport Corporation has gradually started posting 'eviction orders' on the homeless people's belongings, requiring them to leave the terminal.
According to Korean media reports, there are currently about 20 homeless individuals living in Incheon International Airport, with some having stayed for over a month. They occupy passengers' seats to store personal belongings and rest, use electrical outlets for extended periods, and search for food in garbage bins. There have even been incidents in the terminal involving disputes, verbal abuse toward travelers, urinating in public, and clothing smelling strongly of urine.
In response, Incheon International Airport Corporation began posting 'eviction orders' on homeless people's belongings on July 30, demanding an end to sleeping in the terminal and requiring them to leave. The order cited Article 56 of the Airport Facilities Act, stating that sleeping in the terminal is prohibited, and non-compliance could result in criminal penalties or liability for damages. However, the eviction notice itself is not enforceable.
