(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) The Brunei National Anti-Human Trafficking Committee recently held a meeting with representatives from the US Congress to discuss the committee’s implemented initiatives, strategies, and outreach efforts. The meeting emphasized Brunei’s adoption of a whole-of-nation approach in combating human trafficking.
The meeting was chaired by Azri, Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force and Acting Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, in his capacity as chairman of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Committee.
The US Congressional delegation was led by Emma Bruce, Democratic Staff Director of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Indo-Pacific Affairs, along with Policy Advisor and Deputy Communications Director Michael Machag, as well as staff from the US Embassy in Brunei.
The Brunei National Anti-Human Trafficking Committee comprises representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, Attorney General’s Chambers, the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit of the Royal Brunei Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department, the Royal Customs Department, Ministry of Labour, Immigration and National Registration Department, and the Ministry of Social Development.
