A woman in Zhejiang, China, was watching videos on a short video platform when she accidentally discovered someone who looked extremely similar to herself. She then sought help from the police, and after a DNA comparison, it was confirmed that the other woman was her biological mother. The mother and daughter, separated for 30 years, were finally reunited.
According to Wenzhou Evening News, the incident happened on June 3rd, when 32-year-old Ms. Yan hurriedly walked into the police station and revealed that she had come across a video on Douyin, in which Ms. Xu bore a striking resemblance to herself. A strong intuition led her to believe that the woman could possibly be her birth mother, from whom she had been separated for 30 years.
Ms. Yan mentioned that she was adopted as a child. Although she has had a happy life, she has always longed to find her birth parents. Since she left home at a very young age, she had no memories of “home.” It wasn’t until she came across Ms. Xu’s missing-person video and saw the similar faces that her hope was rekindled.
After learning about the situation, the police collected a DNA sample from Ms. Yan and contacted Ms. Xu, the person who posted the video, as well as the local police in her area to verify information. With the cooperation of police from both places and DNA verification, it was finally confirmed that Ms. Yan and Ms. Xu are mother and daughter.
● The Whole Family Never Gave Up the Search
Ms. Xu stated that 30 years ago, her family welcomed their third child, who later became the missing younger daughter. Due to difficult financial circumstances at the time, she and her husband had to leave home for work and helplessly entrusted their youngest daughter to others. However, the little girl then disappeared without a trace. Over the years, Ms. Xu has lived in deep regret, but her whole family has never given up searching for her. Even after multiple DNA comparison setbacks, they remained persistent.
In June 2022, Ms. Xu tried posting a missing-person message on Douyin, and also shared other people’s missing-person videos, hoping to use the power of the internet to find her daughter. Now, having finally found her, Ms. Xu immediately rushed to the police station to reunite with her daughter. The mother and daughter recognized each other and wept.
