Just as the Court of Appeal is hearing Najib's appeal regarding the alleged existence of a pardon with home detention attached, a letter dated January 4th (last Saturday) bearing the letterhead of the Pahang Sultanate Council, titled "Regarding Najib's Home Detention Order Appendix," began to spread widely on social media.
The letter, signed by Datuk Ahmad Khir Ridza, Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Pahang Sultanate, was addressed to Najib’s son, Mohamad Niza, confirming the existence of the additional pardon order for former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib.
A source from the Pahang Royal Palace has also confirmed that the letter is genuine.
According to the letter, the order was issued by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, His Majesty Abdullah, instructing Najib to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at home.
The letter states: “Therefore, through this letter, I, on behalf of His Majesty the Sultan of Pahang, who was the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the time, hereby confirm that His Majesty's order is authentic and valid.”
