“Call me again at this moment”, “I just give the look”, “My body has formed an X shape”—if these lines sound familiar to you, you're most likely among those who have come across videos of 'Hei Bai Dian Zhou Yuan.' Earlier this year, a female entrepreneur calling herself the 'Godmother of China’s Sexual Quotient' went viral on social networks. She came under controversy for running charm-training classes for women and teaching how to attract others with one's gaze.
The suddenly-viral Zhou Yuan had accounts on platforms like Douyin and Xiaohongshu, with a combined following approaching 200,000. Her account bio says she is the founder of Hei Bai Dian Sexual Quotient Academy, China's No.1 in sexual quotient, a 45+ women entrepreneur, and has influenced over a million people.
The content Zhou Yuan published on her social accounts mostly consists of women's charm-cultivation classes, selling training programs priced from 999 yuan (about RM585) to 88,000 yuan (about RM51,546), teaching women how to attract men with gaze and body language. This triggered widespread controversy and her accounts were subsequently banned. Many netizens criticized her for allegedly shaping women into the role of pleasing men, which goes against public order and good customs.
On January 25, a staff member from Zhou Yuan's 'Hei Bai Dian Sexual Quotient Academy' told reporters, “Hei Bai Dian's online course system is still under repair and temporarily unavailable. It might take another 1-3 days.”
Another staff member disclosed that due to recent publicity, there have been some adjustments to the online course content, “Offline courses and activities are still running normally.”
On January 30, the Market Supervision Bureau of Yuhua District, Changsha City, immediately formed a special task force and, together with the Public Security, Cyberspace Administration, and Culture and Tourism departments, launched a joint investigation, ordering an immediate halt to all online and offline business activities.
According to media reports, Zhou Yuan has recently made a low-key comeback under a new account, resuming livestreams and reopening course sales in an attempt to make a comeback. Her new account 'Hello Zhou Dabao' has posted several new videos in succession and conducted livestreams on March 8 and March 18. The associated store “Hei Bai Dian Sexual Quotient Academy” had two courses listed for sale.
Public information shows that Zhou Yuan is a shareholder of Hunan Xiumei Holdings Industrial Group Co., Ltd., which was established in 2023 with a registered capital of 50 million yuan (about RM29.29 million), of which Zhou Yuan’s subscribed capital is 42.5 million yuan (about RM24.89 million). The company's business scope includes manufacturing and sales of adult novelty products, life beauty services, medical beauty services, and it actually controls Hunan Hei Bai Dian Consulting Management Co., Ltd., Hunan Hei Bai Dian Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Changsha Simi Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
