A woman in Huizhou, China, had an altercation with staff at a McDonald's fast food restaurant, not only verbally abusing employees and other customers trying to intervene, but also loudly proclaiming 'I know loads of police officers,' sparking online controversy.
According to Chinese media reports, the incident occurred at 8 p.m. on August 19th, when a woman became dissatisfied because a cleaning staff member failed to promptly clean up food debris left by a male customer, resulting in an argument. She later went to the counter to complain about the cleaning staff.
A male customer at the scene said that the woman, wearing a yellow dress, was loudly shouting throughout the whole incident and was highly agitated. Employees tried to calm her down, saying: 'There's no need to be so fierce just to clear a plate.'
However, the woman did not stop and instead escalated her behavior, continuously cursing with foul language, even using English to insult those present as 'Rubbish' and saying 'such low quality,' before slapping the duty manager.
According to video footage, a male customer, unable to tolerate her actions, stepped forward to stop her, only to become the woman's new target. She relentlessly insulted him and demanded he apologize.
When the male customer tried to call the police, she became even more agitated, rushed forward and knocked his phone out of his hand, angrily pointing at him and shouting: 'Dead man, shut up, get out!' She again declared, 'I know loads of police officers.' Staff tried to intervene. The woman continued to shout: 'It was your auntie who caused this.' She then kept stopping the man from calling the police, said she was going to call the police herself, and emotionally charged at the man.
Worried the woman might take even more aggressive action, the male customer chose to leave the scene.
After the man left, the woman told the staff that she knew many police officers and continued to insult the employees handling the dispute. Staff told her they had already called the police. The woman then cursed as she left with an underage girl.
The restaurant responded on the 20th, stating that a customer caused a disturbance the previous night. The restaurant reported the incident to the police. Because one of the duty staff members was slapped by the woman and required three days of rest, under police mediation, the woman compensated the employee with 2,000 yuan (about 1,179 Malaysian ringgit) for medical expenses.
According to a police bulletin issued by the Huicheng Branch of the Huizhou Public Security Bureau on the 21st, police received a report that evening about a woman causing a disturbance in a restaurant on Jiangbei Street. After questioning those involved and reviewing CCTV evidence, they found that a 41-year-old woman surnamed Fang had argued with restaurant staff and other customers while dining, during which she insulted and slapped others in violation of the law, and loudly proclaimed 'I know loads of police officers.' The woman has now been detained for five days.
In response, numerous netizens have criticized the woman's outrageous, unreasonable behavior, commenting, 'You need to understand this is a public place, not your home,' 'Check her background,' 'Administrative detention, now she knows even more police officers.' However, some have also commented, 'To be honest, every time I've been to McDonald's, the tables were very dirty and nobody cleaned them.'
