The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of the Federal Territories, Zaliha, clarified that she has never seen any additional orders concerning former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib's home detention.
According to the Metropolitan Daily, she refuted accusations of attempting to conceal the truth and reiterated her unawareness of any additional order.
“I want to explain that, like other ministers, I have not seen the document for the additional order.”
“I did not conceal anything, and I believe this answers all doubts, and I do not wish to continue responding on this matter.”
On the other hand, the Legal Affairs Division, which is under the Prime Minister's Department and acts as the Secretariat for the Pardon Board, stated they have not received any additional orders concerning Najib's pardon, nor have they received formal notification from the National Palace.
The group clarified on Friday (10th) through a statement that, according to official files and records, there is no such thing as an appendix to the pardon order, and the procedures and information of the Pardon Board are bound by the Official Secrets Act 1972.
The statement noted that any party, regardless of their status or position, is not allowed to access these documents, in line with confidentiality and integrity principles.
“Any statements that could confuse the public about the status or role of the Pardon Board are improper, and appropriate actions may be taken.”
“This is an important measure to maintain the integrity of the Pardon Board and to convey accurate information to society.”
Among them, all related documents can only be reviewed by Pardon Board members and those directly authorized by the Pardon Board.
To maintain confidentiality and integrity principles, individuals not involved, regardless of their position or rank, have no right to access these documents.
Notably, they also clarified that the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Law and Institutional Reform, Datuk Seri Azalina, is not a member of the Pardon Board and is thus not involved in any prisoner pardon application procedures.
