(Miri, 8th) The Lutong Fire Station in Miri successfully rescued a 1-year-11-month-old toddler whose foot was trapped in a bathroom drain pipe this afternoon.
The incident occurred at 5:09pm today (Saturday), when the fire department received an emergency call from a member of the public, reporting that a child's left foot had become stuck in their home's bathroom floor drain.
Upon receiving the report, the Lutong Fire Station dispatched a firetruck with Commander Edwan Siba leading a team of six firefighters who rushed to the scene.

The firefighters arrived at the incident location, a residence at Permyjaya Dato Permysuri 1B, at 5:19pm. After assessing the scene, the commander instructed the team to operate with care, successfully freeing the toddler’s left foot. After confirming the child was in good health, the fire team returned to their station at 5:48pm, completing the rescue safely and smoothly.
This rescue operation took around 38 minutes, was carried out safely without any casualties, and did not require coordination with other agencies.
