Brunei Foochow Assiciation, Kuala Belait, recently appointed the outgoing chairman Tan Tei Tei as the Permanent Honorary Chairman during a special members' meeting.
Tan Tei Tei joined the association's council in 2003. In his 21-year tenure with the council, he served as chairman for 7 terms (14 years).
In an interview with this newspaper, he remarked that the newer generations are surpassing the older ones. The new chairman, George Wong and the council are exceptionally capable, offering great opportunities for learning. Although he has stepped down, he feels gratified that there are competent successors for the public.
He also expressed his gratitude for being appointed as the Permanent Honorary Chairman, which is a recognition of his 21 years of contributions to the council and considered the highest honor among compatriots.
The certificate commended Tan Tei Tei 's enthusiastic philanthropic acts and widespread reputation for his significant contributions to the community, which is greatly admired.
