Trump Questions at UNGA: What is the Purpose of the United Nations?

(United States, 24th) U.S. President Trump, in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday (September 23), once again declared that he ended seven wars, and claimed that in the process, he never received any help from the United Nations. He said: “So, what is the purpose of the United Nations?”
Trump said: “I ended seven wars and spoke with the leaders of each related country, but the United Nations didn’t even make a phone call to offer help with the aftermath. All the United Nations gave me was an escalator that got stuck halfway up… and a teleprompter that wouldn’t work.”
“So, what is the purpose of the United Nations? The United Nations originally had great potential, but it hasn’t even come close to realizing that potential. Most of the time, at least for now, all they seem to do is write strongly-worded letters and never follow up. Empty rhetoric cannot resolve wars.”
He then went on at the assembly to list conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Cambodia and Thailand, Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt and Ethiopia, as well as Serbia and Kosovo.
However, CNN analyst Stephen Collinson pointed out that some of the “agreements” Trump mentioned are closer to ceasefire arrangements, rather than comprehensive peace agreements that can permanently resolve generational disputes.
Collinson criticized: “The president’s team is running around putting out fires just to claim some quick victories, trying to score a Nobel Peace Prize for him.”
