This year's dog days begin on Wednesday (15th), lasting until August 23rd, for a total of 40 days. China will enter the hottest period of the year.

On Tuesday afternoon, temperatures in Nanjing soared to 35℃, marking the city's first day of high temperatures this year. Combined with humidity, the perceived temperature can reach around 40℃.

In the next two days, widespread high temperatures will continue from the Sichuan Basin to Jiangnan and the Jianghuai regions. Due to high humidity, the feeling of stuffiness will be especially pronounced. In parts of Hubei, Hunan, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, and Henan, the perceived temperature will rise above 40℃.

On Tuesday, the Chongqing Meteorological Observatory issued its first red high temperature alert of the year. Local meteorological authorities predict that, in the next two days, many districts and counties in Chongqing will experience high temperatures ranging from 40 to 42℃.

On the other hand, after Typhoon Bavi’s impact ends, rainfall will significantly decrease and weaken in Northeast China by Wednesday. Rainfall in the Huanghuai and South China regions will remain strong, with local areas experiencing torrential rain. Most other parts of China will experience hot and stuffy weather.
