In response to a Chinese tourist being attacked in Osaka, the Chinese Consulate-General in Osaka has demanded that the Japanese side severely punish the assailant to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
According to a statement published on July 1 on the website of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, a Chinese tourist was assaulted and injured in a neck-choking robbery on a street in Nishinari Ward, Osaka Prefecture, at around 10 PM on Wednesday, July 30. The perpetrator has been arrested. The Consulate-General in Osaka immediately contacted the injured compatriot to offer condolences and demanded that the Japanese side severely punish the culprit and take corresponding measures to strictly prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
Recently, cases involving attacks on Chinese citizens have occurred frequently. The Chinese Embassy in Japan has lodged a formal protest with the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting the Japanese side to effectively protect the safety and legal rights and interests of Chinese citizens in Japan.
On Thursday morning (July 31), two Chinese nationals were suddenly attacked and seriously injured by four strangers with iron pipes on the street near Kanda Station on the Tokyo subway. The suspects fled.
● Japanese Mother and Child Injured by Blunt Force in Suzhou
On the same day, another incident occurred in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, where a Japanese mother and her child were attacked. According to Japanese media reports, the victims were injured inside a subway station, and the relevant Chinese authorities have apprehended the suspect.
According to Kyodo News, sources familiar with Japan-China relations revealed on July 1 that on Thursday evening, a Japanese woman walking with her child in a Suzhou subway station was injured by something resembling a stone. She was treated at a hospital and was not in life-threatening condition.
The report stated that the background of the incident remains unclear. In September, China will hold various events and a military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan. The Japanese Embassy in China had sent an email in late July reminding Japanese expatriates in China to "pay special attention to heightened anti-Japanese sentiment."
Last June in Suzhou, a Chinese man attacked a school bus for Japanese children with a knife, injuring a Japanese mother and child.
