Miri Police Narcotics Unit Arrests Foreign Man for Drug Trafficking

(Miri, 24th) Miri District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga confirmed that the Miri Police Headquarters Narcotics Unit arrested a 45-year-old foreign man involved in drug trafficking during an operation in Niah yesterday.

The police discovered 50.70 grams of methamphetamine, with a total value of 5,577 ringgit, from a plastic bag during the operation at 4 PM on the 23rd of this month.

The man has been granted a 6-day remand until the 28th of this month for further investigation.

The police will investigate under Section 39b of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, where if found guilty, the penalty is death or life imprisonment, and whipping of not less than 12 strokes.

The Miri police also urge the public to report any information related to drug activities to the nearest police station immediately to help curb and eradicate such activities.
