(Brunei City, 14th) The 2025 Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition in Brunei kicked off grandly. The new representative Xiao Shengzhong showcases great emphasis in his first public event.
On May 14, 2025, the 'Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition', organized by the Brunei Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities, was grandly opened at Brunei Chung Hwa Middle School, attracting enthusiastic participation from several schools' teachers, students, and parents in Brunei, with a lively response on site. This event was also the first public event since the new representative to Brunei, Xiao Shengzhong, took office, demonstrating his high regard for promoting educational exchanges between Taiwan and Brunei.
In his opening speech, Representative Xiao expressed his honor to participate in the education exhibition as his first activity during his term, symbolizing the representative office's strong support for the overseas promotion of Taiwanese higher education. He emphasized: 'Choosing Taiwan is a win-win choice.' For students, it is an opportunity for further study, and for Brunei and Taiwan, it is an important channel to promote exchanges and friendship. Representative Xiao cited Principal Xu of Brunei Chung Hwa Middle School in his speech, who highly praised the diversity and quality of the Taiwanese educational environment, encouraging students to bravely pursue their dreams and connect with Taiwan to broaden their international vision. Also, using the words of President Luo of the Brunei Alumni Association, who encouraged junior students with his own experience, he highlighted that studying in Taiwan can also cultivate the spirit of civic society, which is humble and courteous. The event also invited the Head of the Education Group at the Representative Office in Malaysia, Director Zhang, to explain the six benefits of studying in Taiwan. Taiwanese higher education covers academic research, technical and vocational training, and internationalized courses, providing Bruneian students with diverse and practical study options, making it an ideal international study destination. Representative Xiao also praised today's guests and teachers, who are all excellent examples of Taiwanese university graduates.
The education exhibition displayed admission information from four Taiwanese colleges and universities, with multiple consultation booths on-site to provide students and parents with in-depth understanding of course content, application procedures, and scholarship systems. It is hoped that more Bruneian students will study in Taiwan, jointly creating a new milestone in transnational learning.
