Ko Wen-je, Chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, is involved in four cases including the redevelopment scandal of Jinghua City and the political donation case. As of the 26th, he has been detained for a total of 113 days.

In the early hours of the 27th, around 3 a.m., the court ruled to approve  Ko Wen-je's bail with 30 million New Taiwan dollars (4.1177 million Malaysian Ringgit), but with restrictions on leaving the country, going to sea, and residence. Supporters gathered outside the court cheered loudly upon hearing the news, with some even crying tears of joy.

The Taipei District Prosecutor's Office on Thursday prosecuted 11 people, including Ko Wen-je, accusing him of bribery against duty, profiteering, embezzlement, and breach of trust under the Anti-Corruption Act, and sought a total sentence of 28 years and 6 months. This makes him the first former mayor of Taipei to be detained and prosecuted for involvement in corruption.
