KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan announced that the appointment of two experienced individuals to the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) is part of an effort to strengthen the nation’s human capital development through more strategic and high-impact skills training.

The appointees are Ramelle Ashram Ramli, who will serve as a board member as well as deputy chairman, and Ahsim Jamat, who has been appointed as a board member.

Ramanan said that the appointments are in line with the government’s commitment to ensure that PTPK continues to play a central role as a key institution in supporting the national skills training ecosystem, including expanding access to training financing and enhancing the employability of graduates from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“These appointments also reflect the government’s emphasis on leadership grounded in industry experience and practical expertise, in efforts to strengthen governance and the efficiency of institutions related to skills training,” he said in a statement today.

He also expressed confidence that the combined experience and expertise of both individuals will bring significant added value to PTPK in advancing the national talent development agenda, as well as supporting Malaysia’s aspiration towards a high-income, skills-driven economy.

Ramelle Ashram has extensive experience in the corporate sector, particularly in the fields of skills training and talent development. With this background, he is expected to play a key role in strengthening PTPK’s strategic direction, including enhancing the effectiveness of training financing programmes and ensuring alignment between industry needs and national workforce development.

Ahsim also possesses extensive experience in the workforce skills training industry, with expertise in human resource development, and is well-positioned to help strengthen policy planning and the implementation of training programmes that are more responsive, inclusive, and aligned with the evolving needs of the industrial sector.

In an increasingly challenging and competitive economic landscape, PTPK plays a vital role in producing a skilled workforce that not only meets domestic market demands but is also capable of competing at the global level.
