(Kuala Belait, 7th) Sungai Liang Zhongling School issued a statement yesterday, stating that due to force majeure natural factors and out of consideration for the safety of teachers and students, the Brunei Ministry of Education has decided, after careful study, that the school's interim campus will be suspended from use.
The statement said, “Our school hereby notifies all parties that, being affected by force majeure natural factors, and for the safety of teachers and students, the Brunei Ministry of Education has made a careful decision that the Sungai Liang Zhongling School interim campus will be suspended from use.”
On December 16, 2025, our school officially received written notification from the Ministry of Education, informing us that, due to safety concerns, the land used for the interim campus needs to be temporarily suspended from use. The Ministry of Education will also assist in arranging for students to transfer to other schools. The school hereby clarifies: the school is not closed. This is only the suspension of the interim campus; the school’s license remains valid, and administrative and legal affairs can be carried out as usual. However, as per instructions from the Ministry of Education, teaching and student admission activities will be temporarily suspended, which is expected to last for two years.

At present, our school has initiated the land safety assessment and development planning approval procedures related to the campus reconstruction project, and is processing related documents with the Urban and Rural Planning Department and the Building and Construction Industry Authority. Once full approval is obtained, construction of the new school facilities will begin immediately. The Ministry of Education hopes that the new campus can be completed within two years.
In order to expedite the reconstruction progress, the school board will actively promote fundraising activities, including upcoming fundraising activities in conjunction with the Lunar New Year, to serve as the building fund. We sincerely ask for continued support from all sectors of society.
The school board deeply regrets the inconvenience caused by the suspension of teaching, and sincerely thanks all sectors of society for their long-standing care and support. We look forward to Sungai Liang Zhongling School returning to the campus with a brand new look in two years, and continuing to contribute to Chinese education.
