KUCHING,5 August: A concerned lady came to Hope Place Kuching recently, requesting support for her sister with two schooling children.
Voon Mei Fong, 47, who lives at Demak Laut with her children, aged 6 and 11, is struggling financially as she has been separated from her husband since June this year.
Hope Place, in a statement, said that Voon’s marriage fell apart and that she is also a victim of domestic abuse.
“Voon, however, said that she is grateful that both of her children were never hurt or abused.
“With no transport of her own, she struggles to find a job and is currently unemployed.
“Since her separation from her husband, Voon’s sister has been supporting her as much as she can. However, with Voon unable to find a stable income, the burden has become too much,” the non-governmental organisation said.
Voon, according to Hope Place, said that her in-laws are still helping out.
“Her in-laws bring the children to school every day. Furthermore, the house where Voon and her kids are staying belongs to her father-in-law.
“But lacking financial resources, Voon and her children still face an uncertain future. We are supporting Voon and her children with continuous basic food aid,” Hope Place said.
For more information, Hope Place or Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK) can be reached at 082-505987 or 013-5672775.
All donations are welcome and receipts will be given upon request. Donations can be made directly to its bank account MBB: 511289001160 or through its Facebook page to access Sarawak Pay/S PAY GLOBAL QR code.
