(Daro, 27th) — A 14-year-old boy went missing yesterday while catching prawns near the Sungai Kelai jetty close to Jingga Longhouse on Pulau Bruit (Bruit Island), believed to be the victim of a crocodile attack.
The Daro Fire and Rescue Department received a report from the Daro Police Headquarters at around 5:45 p.m. today and rushed to the scene to begin search and rescue operations.
Three rescuers traveled around 36 kilometers to the location, joining police and local villagers to search for the missing boy.
It is understood that the boy was suspected to have been attacked around the Kampung Sebako-Sedi area.
Despite concerted search efforts by all parties, the boy's whereabouts were still unknown at the time of writing.
The search and rescue operation was temporarily halted at 6:30 p.m. and will resume tomorrow (December 27).
