(Kuala Lumpur, 21st) The Malaysian Meteorological Department will test the Malaysian Tsunami Warning System (SAATNM) at two locations on Monday (September 22).
The department posted on social media platform X on Sunday (September 21), stating that the test locations are Central Park in Miri, Sarawak, from 9am to 11am; and the other at Geting Beach in Tumpat, Kelantan, from 10am to 12pm.
“This initiative aims to conduct acceptance testing on the new tsunami warning systems at the above-mentioned locations.”
The Meteorological Department advises the public, especially residents in the vicinity, not to panic when hearing the alarm, as it is merely a test.
