The latest statistics from the People's Bank of China (central bank) show that as of the end of March this year, China's gold reserves stood at 74.38 million ounces, marking an increase for 17 consecutive months.

The latest statistics show that as of the end of March this year, China's gold reserves stood at 74.38 million ounces, an increase of 160,000 ounces from 74.22 million ounces at the end of February. The People's Bank of China began increasing its gold holdings in November 2024, and has now done so consecutively for 17 months.

The State Administration of Foreign Exchange of China released the latest statistics on the 7th, showing that as of the end of March this year, China's foreign exchange reserves totaled 3.342123 trillion US dollars (13.48 trillion ringgit), down by 85.684 billion US dollars (345.692 billion ringgit) from the end of February's 3.427807 trillion US dollars (13.83 trillion ringgit), a decrease of about 2.5%.

The State Administration of Foreign Exchange said that due to factors such as the global macro environment and monetary policy and expectations of major economies, the US dollar index has risen and the prices of major global financial assets have fallen. Exchange rate conversion and asset price changes, among other factors, have combined to cause a decrease in the scale of foreign exchange reserves.
