Promoting Brunei Tourism Year 2027 - Tourism Board Participates in Asia Tourism Summit

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) Brunei, through the Tourism Development Department under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, made its appearance as an official partner country at the 2026 Asia Tourism Summit, marking an important step forward for Brunei in regional tourism development.
This participation also coincided with Brunei's official launch of the 'Brunei Tourism Year 2027' initiative, further consolidating Brunei's efforts to elevate its status as a regional and global tourist destination.
As the official partner country, Brunei utilized this platform to showcase its diverse tourism products to international buyers, sellers, and industry leaders from across Asia. The event provided valuable opportunities for business negotiations, establishing partnerships, and enhancing Brunei's visibility in the regional tourism market.
This event also served as a strategic platform for promoting the 'Brunei Tourism Year 2027' initiative, reinforcing the positive momentum built by the pre-launch activity held on June 20, 2026.

The Brunei delegation highlighted the country's unique tourism experiences at the Brunei Pavilion, including cultural heritage, community attractions, and nature adventure activities.
The event positioned Brunei as a safe, peaceful, and authentic tourism destination, renowned for its pristine natural environment and rich cultural heritage.
During the event, the Brunei Tourism Department hosted over 30 scheduled B2B matching sessions with key stakeholders in the Indonesian tourism industry. These meetings aimed to strengthen business partnerships, explore new market opportunities,

and promote tourism cooperation between the two countries. Discussions also focused on improving connectivity, fostering regional cooperation, and promoting key tourism sectors such as ecotourism, Islamic heritage tourism, educational tourism, community tourism, and other distinctive tourism experiences.
Brunei's participation in the 2026 Asia Tourism Summit demonstrates the Tourism Development Department's ongoing commitment to expanding international markets and diversifying the tourism industry. This momentum has benefited from the strong performance of the Indonesian market, with the number of Indonesian tourists rising from 25,974 in 2024 to around 31,747 in 2025. As of April 2026, Brunei had already received 12,633 Indonesian tourists, indicating continued growth in this major source market.
With strategic partnerships and the forthcoming 'Brunei Tourism Year 2027' initiative, Brunei will continue to strengthen its position in the regional and global tourism landscape.
