Only Through Working Together Can Businesses Become Strong – Local Business Association Calls for Unity

(Miri, 24th) Mohamad Hafiz Rohani, Chairman of the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) Miri Branch, pointed out that looking back on the soon-to-end year 2025, the clearest lesson is—only by working hand in hand can the business community become stronger.

In a message celebrating the year-end festivities and welcoming the coming of the new year 2026, he represented the DUBS Miri Branch to extend sincere gratitude to business partners, industry collaborators, the media, and the people of Miri who have walked alongside the association all the way, and thanked all sectors for their continuous support in both good times and bad.

He said that 2025 has been full of challenges for local SMEs, involving rising cost of living, increased operating costs, market access, financing opportunities, and policy implementation. These are not difficulties faced by individual companies, but common issues within the entire business ecosystem.

He revealed that the DUBS Miri Branch participated in more than 50 various networking and dialogue meetings in the past year, including interactions with the media and multiple stakeholders, actively reflecting and promoting solutions to the real issues faced by SMEs at the grassroots level.

"In today's society, fragmented voices are easily ignored, but when we unite under one big umbrella, our voices are easier to be heard and more respected. What we advocate is not for a small group, but to strengthen the entire local business ecosystem."

He emphasized that uniting on a common platform does not mean losing one's individual identity; on the contrary, it can enhance the position and strength of each enterprise and organization.

Looking forward to 2026, he believes that the coming year should be a year of "unity rather than internal friction," calling for more SMEs to be included in the collaborative network rather than being marginalized; for more issues to be raised collectively rather than borne alone. Only then can policies, assistance, and development opportunities truly benefit those grassroots businesses most in need.

Mohamad Hafiz stated that DUBS Miri Branch will continue to play the role of a "unifying umbrella," acting as a bridge between the business community, government, relevant agencies, and society, and will persist in upholding the community political concept of "economy first, people foremost," rejecting division and promoting win-win cooperation.

He called on, during the festive season and the upcoming new year, for all in the business community and the public to further reinforce unity and gather strength, to move forward together on a common platform, and to jointly create a fairer, more resilient, and more prosperous future economy for Miri.
