(Kuala Lumpur, 10th) DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook believes that Malaysian history textbooks should present a more complete account of our country’s party system. Therefore, he will ask the DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) to study how to submit a comprehensive memorandum to the relevant authorities to promote this matter.
He said that most Malaysian history textbooks focus on the Alliance (the predecessor to Barisan Nasional), but we must not forget that there are other major parties in our country, including the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and PAS, both of which are major political forces in Malaysia.
“Whether you like it or not, whether you support it or not, this is history. This forms the shape of our entire political landscape. Especially the roles played in Parliament.”
After attending the opening ceremony of the National Youth General Knowledge Competition organized by DAPSY on Sunday (May 10), Loke made these remarks in response to a reporter’s question on whether he would suggest to the Ministry of Education to include opposition parties in history textbooks.
