A 26-year-old man in Japan filled a plastic tea drink bottle with urine and placed it in a convenience store’s drink cooler, where a customer almost drank it after purchase.

According to Kyodo News, the incident occurred in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture. The man, Kota Shiozawa, has been arrested by police on suspicion of obstruction of business.

The Chiba Central Police Station stated on the 21st that on May 24th this year, at around 11:50 a.m., Kota Shiozawa placed the “urine tea bottle” in a convenience store in Chuo Ward, Chiba City. After paying, a customer opened the bottle, smelled a foul odor, and immediately reported it to the store.

This incident led the affected convenience store to conduct a comprehensive product inspection, impacting its normal business operations. After being arrested, Kota Shiozawa confessed that he was upset due to difficulties at work and was in a bad mood, so he wanted to pull a prank. He claimed it was not his intention to disrupt the store’s operations.
