(Daro, 14th) The Sarawak government has approved an allocation totaling RM58.5 million for the construction of a road connecting Kampung Sawai to the main road leading to Sibu.
This infrastructure project is expected to have a significant impact on the local transportation system and economic development.
Daro constituency assemblyman Safiee Ahmad stated that the road construction will facilitate residents of Kampung Sawai in traveling to Sibu and surrounding areas.
He pointed out that the project is expected to shorten commuting time and improve accessibility to various urban facilities.
"The construction of this road will not only bring more economic opportunities but also promote the development of rural areas through better urban connectivity," Safiee said at the opening ceremony of the SK Kampung Sawai annual sports and fellowship event in 2025.
He further mentioned that the improvement in road facilities will also enable parents to more conveniently send their children to higher education institutions in the city, including the Sarawak University of Technology (UTS), a government entity of Sarawak.
He added that through the implementation of this project, the Sarawak government demonstrated its commitment to balanced urban and rural development, aiming to improve the welfare of the people.
"Parents should seize this opportunity, as education is the key to creating a future for their children and an important factor in improving family living standards and economic conditions," he said.
In the same event, Safiee also officiated the completion handover ceremony of a RM100,000 upgrade project for the mosque in Kampung Sawai.
