Powerful Typhoon 'Kajiki' stalled at the coast of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces in Vietnam at around 5pm on the 25th, its wind speed weakening from a peak of 166 km/h to 118–133 km/h. Kajiki brought heavy rain to the central-northern coast of Vietnam, and despite the weakening winds, still caused trees to fall and houses to flood.
Authorities reported one fatality and eight injuries.
The Vietnam Meteorological Bureau said Kajiki barely moved for three hours. The Vietnamese government predicted this would be an extremely dangerous and fast-moving storm, warning that Kajiki would bring torrential rain, floods, and landslides.
Authorities stated that 16,500 soldiers and 107,000 military personnel were mobilized to assist in the evacuation of over 500,000 people. Dang Xuan Phong (transliteration), a 48-year-old resident of the tourist town of Cua Lo in Nghe An Province, said, "It was terrifying. Looking down from above, I could see waves as high as two meters, and floodwaters submerging the roads around us."
According to official media reports, multiple areas in Ha Tinh Province experienced power outages, roofs were blown off, and aquaculture farms were washed away.
