Alexander: Four sections of the Pan Borneo Highway affected by floods, but traffic remains passable

(Kuching, Jan 31) Federal Minister of Works for Sarawak, Dato' Seri Alexander, pointed out that four sections of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak have been affected by floods, but all vehicles are still passable.

He disclosed that the affected sections include Serian, Selangau, Bakun, and Puith.

He stated that no roads have been closed due to the floods, and the safety and comfort of road users are assured as officers are stationed at these locations to monitor the situation.

Dato' Seri Alexander stated this during a press conference after inspecting the flood-affected federal highway section from Serian to Sri Aman, spanning from the 187.000 km to 187.700 km (700 meters) two-way section. He noted that the total length of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak is 786 kilometers, composed of 11 packages covering 25 sections, stretching from Sematan Malano Bay to Miri's Puith Road.

He emphasized that the Sarawak Public Works Department is on standby and committed to responding swiftly to public complaints through social media platforms.

He stated that the public can report sections affected by disruptions or closures due to floods to the Sarawak Public Works Department via Facebook, TikTok, or WhatsApp (011-70171777).

Meanwhile, the public is urged to exercise caution when passing through affected areas and stay informed of the latest updates to avoid any inconvenience.
