Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Human Resources Bureau College (JTM) and Huawei Technologies last year, the Industrial Training Academy (ILP) has now officially been established in Kuala Lumpur.
The Ministry of Human Resources announced in a statement today that the new training academy is located on Old Kuchai Road in Kuala Lumpur and was officiated by Minister Sivakumar.
Minister Sivakumar stated that we can leverage Huawei's global expertise in ICT and 5G technology to align with the five strategic pillars of the 2030 National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) policy.
The Human Resources Bureau College and Huawei Technologies signed the Memorandum of Understanding on December 17th last year, during the Malaysia-China Summit. They hope that through this collaboration, the foundation of high-tech infrastructure will be strengthened, and advanced ICT knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G networks, cloud computing, big data, transmission, and the Internet of Things will be transferred to the TVET ecosystem in Malaysia.
The first module they introduced was the Microwave module, which started on February 17th this year. This development was fully provided by Huawei with the aim of cultivating more professional skills talents in the telecommunications and information technology fields.
Currently, a total of 120 participants are involved in two training courses, and they are telecommunications contractors from all over the country. During this period, they learned theory and practiced using Huawei's equipment to gain practical experience in cutting-edge technology. The ministry anticipates that by the end of this year, 1000 people will have participated in the training courses.
Before participating in this training, many telecommunications practitioners had relatively low salaries, but after completing the Huawei course and obtaining certification, outstanding participants will be promoted, becoming technicians with high-level skills, thereby earning more competitive salaries in the future.
In order to secure the career prospects of the participants, the Ministry of Human Resources is currently in discussions with Huawei to build green career paths for outstanding TVET graduates, allowing them to apply for related telecommunications jobs through Huawei's service partners.
The Ministry of Human Resources stated that the government is fulfilling its commitment to building a world-class TVET ecosystem, enabling more citizens to acquire 21st-century skills relevant to the job market, especially in areas like artificial intelligence, digitalization, and the green economy.
The establishment of this center is expected to promote Malaysia's TVET by strengthening the field's educational network and mastering the latest technology, with the aim of nurturing professional talents with international competitiveness.
